Response to Alexa's post

I agree with Alexa that it is very hard not to blame Amir for his flaws. It is easy to forget that his own shortcomings are a direct result from Baba's emotional neglect. Though Amir lives in such splendor, he knows no love from his own family. Ironically, it is Hassan, whom Amir treats as if he were beneath him, who shows love and loyalty toward Amir. Since the narrator is telling his story in flashbacks, I wonder if he too feels guilty about how he treated Hassan.
I hadn't picked up on that line signaling he was pure, as opposed to is. Judging by the horrific event that occurs to Hassan, I believe that Hassan perhaps becomes jaded or withdrawn as a result of the traumatic experience. It was very sad to read that a boy as innocent and good as Hassan suffered one of the worst things that can happen to anyone.
