Ciara's Response to Ryan's Second Reaction

I agree with Ryan about Hosseini's competence in exhibiting Amir's jealousy of Hassan abilities, as well as the approval that Hassan receives from Baba.  I consistently underlined these subtle comments Ryan refers to, which shows how fully Amir sees Hassan as a threat even though they are as close as brothers.  As for why Baba is so despondent towards Amir but approving towards Hassa, I think Hossein has made it obvious why these relationships exist.  Baba wanted a son who would make him proud, a son who would have the same interests as him, not a weak son like Amir who's interest is writing stories.  The wise and athletic Hassan is the type of son Baba hoped for, and Amir resents Hassan for this.

On the contrary, I was not happy to see Amir win, and I did not hope it would please Baba.  Amir seems to think that if he wins this tournament, he will finally win his father's love, and I find this idea sickening.  Amir is tortured by his yearn for Baba's love, and I think that him winning this competition will further mess with his mind.  What Amir does not realize is that it is not his fault; it is not him who needs to change, it is Baba.
