lol Raoul….why do you have to be so vulgar... you don't have
to put f*ck, just put rape.
Besides that, I actually agree with what you have to say.
The scene where Baba is begging Ali to stay is
heartbreaking. Almost shed a tear. Baba tries to appeal to all forms of their
relationship. He asks him to stay as a
friend. He commands him to stay as a
master. He begs him to stay as a
brother. Nothing is enough to convince
him to not to leave, but we can see that it hurts Ali just as much as it hurts Baba. Maybe even more, considering Ali knows what
Amir did to Hassan.
One point that I forgot to mention in my reaction that you
described really well was the juxtaposition of what Baba did when the young woman
was in danger of getting “f*cked” versus what Amir did when he saw Hassan being
raped. Nothing says “you’re a douche”
like seeing someone in the exact same situation as you, making the brave
decision that you couldn’t. I was ready
to give Baba a paternity test at that point; he and Amir couldn’t be any more
different.
I see Amir growing up as well, and I believe he is starting
to realize how inevitable a future meeting with Hassan is. Baba’s death definitely had something to with
Amir’s decision to go back to the Middle East, but I also think his new love
with Soraya has inspired him to begin the reconciliation with his past.
